2016 Kona Chocolate Run - FAQ

1. What do I get for my entry fee?
All participants in the Kona Chocolate Run 10K, 5K, Chocolate Double & Cocoa Mile receive a High quality L. Jordan brand "Full zipper jacket with two zipper pockets and embroidered"* guaranteed if registered by 11/17/16 **$2.00 for XXL.  All 10K and 5K finishers receive a medal. Age Group Awards in 10K & 5K events. Cups of Panera Bread Hot Chocolate & Chocolate Chip Cookies, Guernsey Chocolate Milk & Sanders Chocolate Candy along with music in downtown Plymouth! Heated Warming Tent next to Chocolate Buffet Tents

2. How can I sign up for the events?
Online registration is now open on our website at:  www.KonaChocolateRun.com/registration.htm

Or download the race entry form and mail in or go to a Road Runner Sports store (see below for locations) and register in person.

3. What are the age limits for the races?
There are no age limits. We encourage participants of all ages to join us.

4. Are the race events walker friendly?
Yes, we will have plenty of participants that will walk.  If you plan to walk the race, we do require that you line up at the back of the race corral at the start so as not to impede the faster runners. 10K Time Qualifier: Participants must run at "18 minutes or less pace per mile" to register for our 10K event

6. Are there refunds if I cannot attend? Can someone else run with my bib no? NO REFUNDS; ONLY TRANSFERS ALLOWED TO ANOTHER PERSON BEFORE ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES!

7. Are baby joggers or strollers or pet dogs allowed during the race?
If you choose to run with a baby jogger or a pet dog, you must seed yourself in the back of all runners.  It is your responsibility to make sure the baby jogger or pet dog does not impede other runners as well as you must take extra precaution as to your safety, your child's safety and the safety of the runners around you.  We reserve the right to pull any person from the race who is endangering other runners or themselves.

8. Are headphones (iPods, mp3 players, etc) allowed during the race?
Headphones are allowed for any runner however, we do recommend that runners use extreme precaution when using headphones during the race event for safety reasons.

9. When is the last day to register?
The last day to register “online” is: Thursday, November 17th at 11:00 pm EST.  You may register in-person the day before the race and morning of the race at the locations listed below.

Packet Pick Up:

10. How will I receive my race packet?
You must pick up your race packet before the event. We will not mail race packets.

11. Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

13. Can I register on race day?
Please see question 9 above.

14. Do you accept credit cards for registration on race day?
No, cash or check only.

Race Information:

15. Will there be fluid aid water stations?
Yes, there will be water stations about every 1.5 miles in the 10K, and at the halfway point of the 5K event.   Also water is provided at the start & finish areas.

16. Will there be medical aid stations?
The Medical Aid station is located at start/finish line area and course marshals on all three courses have two-way radios for contact with public safety officials.

17. Will there be bathrooms/Porta-Johns available?
Indoor restrooms are available at the Plymouth Arts and Recreation Center (PARC) and at The Gathering pavilion.   Portable toilets are available at start/finish area next to The Gathering pavilion, adjacent to Kellogg Park, at the 3 mile aid station on the 10K course, at the aid station at the combined 4.5 mile-10K course/halfway point of the 5K course location.

18. Where can we park for the races?
Parking is available in downtown Plymouth, both on-street and in municipal lots.  The City of Plymouth charges $5 per vehicle in for municipal parking lots and structures.  Kona Running Company offers free shuttle buses from Troy Design and Manufacturing (TDM) on Sheldon Road.

Shuttle bus parking is at the ACH Plant – 14425 N. Sheldon in Plymouth (Sheldon Road & M-14).  Buses will drop runners off at Plymouth Arts and Recreation Center.   First bus leaves ACH about 6:40 AM and will run every 10-15 minutes. Last bus leaves the Plymouth Arts and Recreation Center at 10:30 AM.

19. Where are start/finish lines and the event start times?
Start and Finish lines are at Kellogg Park in downtown Plymouth.  Kona Chocolate Run 10K at 7:30 am, Cocoa Mile at 8:00 am, and 5K at 9:00 am.

20. B-Tag chip timing?
Runners will need to wear Race Bib on their front - shirt/ jacket/ pants - to be scored in 10K & 5K Run/Walk events  (ChronoTrack B-tag is on the bib).

Awards:

21. Age Group Awards?
Age group awards are presented for the 10K and 5K events for males and females in the top three places in the age groups 10-14 years, 15-19 years, 20-24 years, 25-29 years, 30-34 years, 35-39 years, 40-44 years, 45-49 years, 50-54 years, 55-59 years, 60-64 years, 65-69 years, 70-74 years and 75+ years.  Awards be given out at the Awards tent in Kellogg Park at 9:30 AM.  If you think you have won an award, please check at the Awards tent.  If you are unable to wait for the official results and pick up your award on race day, you may have a friend pick it up or pay to have it shipped.
